MONROVIA, Liberia – The Alternative National Congress (ANC) has congratulated the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) on its upcoming 22nd Anniversary and Militant Month Celebration, describing the event as an important milestone in Liberia’s democratic journey.
In a statement issued Thursday, June 25, the ANC commended the CDC for its role in the country’s political development over the past two decades and extended best wishes for a successful celebration scheduled for June 27 in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.
The ANC also confirmed that its Political Leader and Standard Bearer, Alexander B. Cummings, has accepted an invitation from the CDC to serve as the keynote speaker at the anniversary program.
According to the party, the invitation was signed by CDC National Chairman Atty. Janga A. Kowo and underscored the importance of national conversations surrounding governance, accountability, economic opportunities, and the future of Liberia’s democracy.
Cummings is expected to travel to Grand Gedeh County alongside senior ANC officials and party supporters to participate in the event.
The ANC said the invitation and Cummings’ acceptance reflect growing political goodwill among opposition parties and demonstrate the value of constructive engagement across political lines.
The party further noted that cooperation, mutual respect, and political tolerance remain critical to fostering national unity and strengthening Liberia’s democratic institutions.
Political observers view the development as another indication of increasing collaboration among opposition political actors ahead of future national political engagements.
The ANC concluded by wishing the CDC a memorable anniversary celebration and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting democratic dialogue and inclusive governance in Liberia.
