Monrovia, Liberia – Alternative National Congress (ANC) Political Leader Alexander Cummings has expressed willingness to collaborate with opposition political institutions, but stressed that any future alliance must be driven by a clear national agenda rather than a mere pursuit of political power.

Speaking on Sky FM’s 50-50 program, the businessman and opposition figure said the ANC has consistently remained open to collaboration and engagement with like-minded institutions across the country.

“We have always been open to collaborate. We will collaborate differently. It is too early,” Cummings stated.

His remarks come amid growing public discussions about possible opposition alliances ahead of Liberia’s future political landscape, particularly as parties continue to assess their strategies and national priorities.

Cummings noted that Liberia’s political environment extends beyond the country’s dominant political establishments, emphasizing that the ANC is willing to work with a broad range of institutions.

“There are other political parties in the Country besides the two big parties. We are open to collaboration with everybody,” he said.

However, the ANC leader cautioned against alliances formed solely for electoral advantage or the purpose of capturing state power.

“We are not just going to collaborate just because we want to take power,” Cummings asserted.

According to him, any collaboration involving the ANC must be grounded in shared values, policy direction, and a common vision for Liberia’s development.

“I am so clear that if we are going to go into collaboration, we have to be clear on the agenda,” he added.

Cummings further maintained that the party’s openness extends beyond political organizations, stating that the ANC is prepared to engage any institution whose goals align with the country’s broader national interest.

“We are open to collaboration with any institution that is aligned with what we want for the country,” he said.

Cummings also made it clear that while he supports collaboration, he does not see himself participating in any arrangement as a vice-presidential candidate, a position likely to shape ongoing conversations around opposition coalition politics.

His comments are expected to fuel further debate about the future of opposition unity and whether Liberia’s opposition community may pursue new forms of political cooperation in the coming years.

This is a developing story.
