Liberian medical scientist Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan has warned the public against consuming the controversial product known as “Brown Tap,” saying there is not enough clinical evidence to determine whether the substance is safe or what effects it may have on the human body.
Speaking on Prime FM on Friday, Dr. Nyan said “Brown Tap” has not undergone the necessary clinical testing to establish its safety, effectiveness, dosage, or proper use.
He urged Liberians to exercise caution and avoid consuming the substance until credible scientific research can establish what it contains and how it affects the human body.
At the same time, Dr. Nyan cautioned the Government of Liberia against immediately banning the product without first conducting proper scientific and medical analyses.
He said authorities should rely on clinical research and reliable statistical data to determine the substance’s composition, possible health effects, appropriate use, and whether regulatory action is necessary.
Dr. Nyan also addressed widespread claims that “Brown Tap” is specifically intended for sexual enhancement. He said there is currently no scientific data proving that the product was designed or approved for that purpose.
His comments come as public discussions continue to grow around the identity, intended use, safety, and possible health risks associated with “Brown Tap.”
