MONROVIA, Liberia — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has ordered the dismissal, suspension, and investigation of several senior government and security officials as his administration intensifies its crackdown on narcotics trafficking and related crimes.
The directive, announced Thursday by the Executive Mansion, follows the President’s review of the latest status report on ongoing investigations into two major cocaine trafficking cases. The move is part of what the government described as a broader effort to strengthen accountability, uphold the rule of law, and ensure integrity within Liberia’s public institutions.
Among those dismissed with immediate effect are Mark Egon Kuiah, Deputy Director for Operations at Roberts International Airport (RIA); Johnny Bolar Dean, Commissioner of Police for Criminal Investigation, Intelligence and INTERPOL; and Patrick Doe, Deputy Director for Administration at the National Security Agency (NSA).
President Boakai also recalled Patrick Komasu(702) from his assignment at the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), suspended him without pay, and ordered that he be placed under investigation.
The President further directed the dismissal of government employees and law enforcement officers indicted in connection with the seizure of 198 plates of processed cocaine at Roberts International Airport and the confiscation of 3,971 plates of cocaine from properties linked to two foreign nationals.
Those dismissed include Mohammed O. Gbowrah, Director of Security at Roberts International Airport, and Moses Jallah, Deputy Commander of the LDEA at the airport.
In a separate case, President Boakai ordered the dismissal of Liberia National Police officers Anthony T. Blaye and Wadell W. Kwarbo, who investigators allege used official government vehicles to transport a narcotics shipment from Vincent Town along the Bomi Highway to the vicinity of Mega Mart in Thinker Village, Paynesville.
The President also dismissed four additional officials and directed that they be turned over to the Ministry of Justice for prosecution. They are Jammel V. Jallah, Christian L. Nyantee, and Albenigo Janior, all agents of the National Security Agency, along with Caycee Nelson, Procurement Director at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
According to the Executive Mansion, the actions underscore President Boakai’s determination to ensure that public officials implicated in criminal activities do not remain in government service.
The President reaffirmed that his administration will continue enforcing the law without fear or favor and vowed that anyone found to have participated in narcotics trafficking or related offenses will be held accountable through the legal process.
He also instructed all security and law enforcement agencies to intensify their investigations and ensure that everyone connected to the ongoing cases is brought before the courts in accordance with due process.
The Executive Mansion said the government remains committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks, strengthening national security, protecting Liberia’s international reputation, and taking all lawful measures necessary to combat narcotics-related crimes.
