MONROVIA, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has honored Ghanaian travel content creator Berthold Kobina Ackon, popularly known as Wodemaya, and Liberian entrepreneur and entertainment executive Jenkins S. Nyuma, also known as King Boog, for their contributions to promoting Liberia during the country’s 179th Independence Day celebrations.
The recognition took place Thursday during a breakfast meeting at President Boakai’s Rehab Residence in Paynesville, bringing together officials from the Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA), including Director General Princess Eva Cooper and Deputy Director General for Marketing and Promotions Jani Jallah Kollie.
Wodemaya was recognized for using his influential digital platforms to showcase Liberia’s tourism, culture, history, and hospitality to a global audience. Through his travel content, the Ghanaian creator highlighted Liberia’s natural attractions, cultural heritage, and investment opportunities while presenting a positive image of the country to viewers across Africa and beyond.
President Boakai presented Wodemaya with a Special Presidential Pin as a symbol of national appreciation for his efforts in promoting Liberia and sharing the country’s story with the world.
King Boog, the organizer of Liberia’s 179th Independence Festival, was also recognized for his role in creating a platform that brought together entertainment, culture, and national celebration during the Independence festivities. His efforts contributed to showcasing Liberia’s creative industry and providing an avenue for cultural expression and engagement.
During the meeting, President Boakai expressed appreciation to both men for their contributions toward elevating Liberia’s image and creating opportunities to promote the country’s tourism and cultural potential.
Wodemaya thanked President Boakai for the recognition, describing Liberia as a country with a rich history, beautiful landscapes, and welcoming people. He said his experience in Liberia allowed him to share a different story about the nation by highlighting its beauty, resilience, and opportunities with an international audience.
The engagement also explored ways to strengthen partnerships in tourism, culture, and investment through digital storytelling and creative initiatives.
