Liberian rapper Christoph The Change and his wife have been honored by traditional leaders in Maryland County, specifically from the Pleebo Sodoken District, in recognition of their cultural ties and contributions to their roots.
The couple was formally bestowed with traditional Nyanbo names during a cultural ceremony that celebrated identity, heritage, and community pride.
As part of the honor, Christoph The Change received the name “Pleebo,” meaning Blessings, while his wife was given the name “Blàhwlor,” meaning Bear Patience.
The award-winning artist expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, describing the moment as both emotional and meaningful. He extended gratitude to the traditional leaders of Pleebo Sodoken District as well as Shogun Records for facilitating the occasion.
“This honor means so much to us, and we are deeply grateful… As a proud son of Maryland County, receiving a traditional name from my people is something I will cherish forever,” Christoph wrote.
In a lighter moment following the ceremony, the rapper also hinted at upcoming music inspired by the experience, teasing fans with a playful line: “Ley Whole Country Pleebo (Blessings)!” 😂❤️
The cultural recognition has since been widely celebrated by fans and supporters, many of whom praised the gesture as a powerful reminder of Christoph’s strong connection to his roots and the importance of preserving cultural identity within Liberia’s entertainment industry.
