Ghanaian YouTuber and content creator Wode Maya has responded to the ongoing conversation sparked by Liberian comedian Abass Conde, popularly known as Mama Liberia, following his grand reception in Liberia.
The debate began after Wode Maya received a warm welcome upon arriving in Liberia, including a crowd at the airport, cultural performances, and a convoy to his hotel. The reception led Mama Liberia to question why foreign personalities often receive such strong support in Liberia while many Liberian artists, influencers, and creators struggle to receive similar recognition.
Responding to the discussion, Wode Maya said the conversation should not be viewed as an attack but rather as an opportunity to promote love, unity, and collaboration.
“This is not a hate speech or whatever, it’s about love, unity and collaboration,” Wode Maya stated.
The Ghanaian content creator encouraged African creators to think beyond borders when producing content, especially those seeking international recognition.
“If you create content, do not create only for a specific audience or country, most especially if you’re chasing global recognition,” he advised.
Wode Maya also expressed his willingness to connect with Mama Liberia, saying the conversation should lead to collaboration rather than division.
“Wode Maya is saying he’s happy to connect with Mama Liberia and he should reach out, it’s all love,” the message added.
He further encouraged Liberian creators to use their platforms to showcase the country in ways that can attract a global audience.
“Create content in Liberia that will give you a global audience,” he emphasized.
