A tragic domestic incident in the New Israel Community, Brewerville, has resulted in the death of a young man and the arrest of his partner, now facing criminal charges.
The Liberia National Police has charged 30-year-old Annie Kollie with manslaughter in connection to the death of her boyfriend, Mitchel Nowah. The incident, which occurred on April 12, 2026, is said to have stemmed from a heated domestic dispute between the couple.
According to police findings, the situation escalated after Nowah allegedly forced his way into a bedroom during an argument and physically assaulted Kollie. Investigators say that during the struggle that followed, Kollie reportedly used a stone to strike Nowah multiple times, leaving him unconscious.
He was later rushed to Redemption Hospital, where medical authorities pronounced him dead.
Police further disclosed that the couple reportedly had a history of domestic violence, often fueled by alcohol abuse, details investigators believe played a significant role in the fatal confrontation.
Kollie has since been formally charged and forwarded to court, where she is expected to answer to the allegations. She remains in police custody pending the outcome of judicial proceedings.
The incident adds to growing concerns around domestic violence in communities across Liberia, raising questions about intervention, awareness, and the need for stronger preventive measures.
