MONROVIA — The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has appointed two Liberians to key leadership positions within its regional institutions for the 2026–2030 term, further strengthening Liberia’s representation in the West African bloc.
The appointments were approved by the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government following recommendations from the 96th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers.
Under the new appointments, Cllr. Charlyne M. Brumskine has been named a Judge of the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice, while Mr. Dehpue Yenpea Zuo, Liberia’s Deputy Minister for Economic Management at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), has been appointed Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Agriculture at the ECOWAS Commission.
The appointments form part of ECOWAS’ efforts to strengthen its institutions and advance regional integration during the 2026–2030 mandate.
Cllr. Brumskine’s appointment to the Community Court of Justice places her among the judicial officials responsible for interpreting ECOWAS laws and ensuring member states comply with the bloc’s legal framework.
Meanwhile, Zuo will oversee economic affairs and agriculture at the ECOWAS Commission, a portfolio that plays a central role in promoting regional economic growth, trade, agricultural development, and cooperation among the organization’s member states.
The appointments represent a significant milestone for Liberia, reflecting the country’s continued participation in regional governance and decision-making within ECOWAS.
They also underscore the confidence placed in Liberian professionals to serve in institutions that shape policies and programs affecting millions of people across West Africa over the next four years.
