Liberian artist Rafield G became the center of attention at the just-ended LIB Brunch Independence Day Festival following an onstage disagreement that disrupted the program, with organizers now providing their side of the events that led to the situation.
According to the organizers, Rafield G was not an uninvited artist but was among the performers confirmed for the festival. However, due to the large number of artists booked for the three-day event, performers were divided across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Organizers say Rafield G was scheduled to perform on Saturday and had been contacted ahead of time, confirming that he would be present for his performance. However, when his performance time arrived, they claim multiple attempts were made to reach him, but he did not respond, resulting in him missing his scheduled appearance.
When Rafield G later arrived on Sunday, the organizers say they had already arranged a different lineup for that day. To accommodate artists who had missed their scheduled performances, they decided to allow those performers to take the stage first before the main Sunday lineup.
According to the organizers, while other artists accepted the arrangement, Rafield G requested to wait and perform alongside Christoph The Change because of their collaboration, “XXX.” The request was granted, as organizers felt the joint performance would be a good moment for fans.
During Christoph The Change’s set, he invited Rafield G on stage to perform their song together. After the collaboration, Christoph reportedly ended his performance and left the stage. However, when the DJ began playing another popular Rafield G song, the artist returned to the stage.
At that moment, organizers say MCs had already introduced Com Cruz as the next performer. Rafield G allegedly attempted to continue performing, leading to a disagreement with the hosts, who told him it was no longer his performance slot.
The situation reportedly escalated when Rafield G took the microphone from Com Cruz, who then left the stage, feeling disrespected. Organizers intervened, explaining that the show schedule had to be respected and that another artist had already been called to perform.
Following reactions from fans at the venue, Rafield G was eventually allowed to continue his performance.
The incident has since generated discussions among fans, with some questioning stage management at major events while others believe artists and organizers must respect agreed performance schedules.
The LIB Brunch Independence Day Festival featured several Liberian entertainers across its three-day celebration as part of Liberia’s 179th Independence celebrations.
