Liberian hairstylist and social media personality Robert Bangoura has reportedly been taken into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to the ICE Online Detainee Locator, an individual identified as Robert Bangoura, who was born in Liberia, is currently listed as being “In ICE Custody.” The database indicates that he is being held at the Philadelphia Federal Detention Center in Pennsylvania.
The public records do not disclose why Bangoura was detained, nor do they indicate whether he is currently facing deportation or other immigration-related proceedings.
Bangoura, 51, is well known within the Liberian community in the United States for his work as a hairstylist and his active social media presence. He gained widespread online attention in 2021 after posting wedding-themed photos of himself dressed as a bride, an appearance that sparked extensive discussion across social media platforms.
In recent days, social media has been flooded with claims suggesting that Bangoura was reported to immigration authorities. However, there is no official evidence to support those allegations, and U.S. authorities have not publicly commented on the circumstances surrounding his detention.
At this stage, the ICE Online Detainee Locator only confirms that Bangoura is in federal immigration custody and identifies the detention facility where he is being held.
It also remains unclear whether he is involved in removal proceedings or another immigration matter. Under U.S. immigration law, a person’s placement in ICE custody does not automatically mean they will be deported, as immigration cases are typically reviewed through legal and immigration court processes before a final decision is made.
