The Liberia National Police (LNP), through its Professional Standards Department (PSD), has officially reinstated Superintendent Margaret T. Ford, the former Zone-1 Base Police Station General Commander, following her earlier suspension linked to a misconduct investigation involving missing seized property, including cartons of spare ribs.
Superintendent Ford was suspended on February 24, 2026, and relieved of her duties for one month without pay after an internal investigation found her in violation of the LNP Administrative Instructions on Discipline and Professional Standards. The findings included allegations of unlawful detention, abuse of authority, and failure to properly account for seized items, among them two cartons of spare ribs valued at LRD $12,750.
According to the LNP, the disciplinary action was taken to enforce accountability and ensure strict compliance with institutional procedures governing police conduct and the handling of confiscated property.
However, in a new update issued on June 15, 2026, the police institution confirmed that Superintendent Ford has now been reinstated following her full compliance with the recommendations of the Professional Standards Department. The LNP noted that she met all required conditions, including addressing administrative concerns and cooperating with investigative procedures.
The reinstatement marks the closure of her disciplinary case at the administrative level, although the LNP emphasized that its Professional Standards Division continues to uphold strict oversight of officer conduct across all units.
The institution reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, transparency, and accountability, stating that no officer is exempt from internal regulations as it works to strengthen public confidence in the national police service.
