MONROVIA — The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has honored the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU) as the country’s leading tax-paying institution among higher education providers, highlighting the university’s strong record of financial discipline and national contribution.
The recognition was announced as part of activities marking the 2026 Taxpayer Appreciation Month, where the LRA spotlighted institutions demonstrating exemplary compliance with Liberia’s tax laws.
In its statement, the Authority credited AMEU for its steady commitment to meeting tax obligations, noting that the university’s performance reflects both reliability and a tangible role in supporting the country’s economic progress. The LRA emphasized that such consistency sets a standard for accountability across the education sector.
Officials of AME University welcomed the honor, describing it as a meaningful affirmation of the institution’s governance practices and broader mission. They noted that beyond academics, the university remains committed to instilling responsibility and integrity in future leaders.
The LRA further stressed that compliance from key institutions plays a vital role in strengthening domestic revenue, which in turn supports essential public services and infrastructure development nationwide.
By emerging as the top contributor in its category, AMEU, according to the Authority, stands as a practical example of institutional transparency and responsibility.
As the university reflects on the recognition, its administration reiterated a continued commitment to maintaining high standards in both education and financial management, while contributing to Liberia’s overall development agenda.
