The Ministry of Education has issued a stern warning to Rev. Paye Cooper Mondolo, who is reportedly operating as Principal of the “Evelyn S. Chapman Global Methodist School” in the New Georgia Housing Estate, Montserrado County.
According to the Ministry, verified reports and documentary evidence confirm that an unauthorized graduation ceremony was organized under the altered school name. The Ministry also obtained a copy of the souvenir program for the event, which was reportedly held on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
In a formal communication to Rev. Mondolo, the Ministry clarified that the legally recognized institution is the Evelyn S. Chapman United Methodist School, operating under the United Methodist School System. The Ministry emphasized that there is no operating permit issued to any institution named “Global Methodist”, and therefore, any academic or graduation exercise conducted under that name is illegal and a violation of education regulations.
A review of academic records further revealed that none of the thirty-five (35) Grade 12 students at the school passed Mathematics in the 2025 WASSCE exams — a key requirement for graduation. The Ministry stated that this academic shortfall alone disqualifies the school from conducting any graduation exercise.
The Ministry’s warning outlined the following directives:
No graduation is to be held under the unauthorized name “Evelyn S. Chapman Global Methodist School.” No student shall graduate without meeting the Ministry’s established academic standards.
Failure to comply, the Ministry warned, will trigger strict administrative actions, including:
Fines and penalties for non-compliance; Non-recognition of all certificates or diplomas issued under the illegal name; Possible closure of the school for operating outside the Ministry’s guidelines.
The statement further advised that any institution wishing to operate under the “Global Methodist” name must undergo full registration and approval procedures. These include submission of a business registration certificate, a valid tax clearance from the Liberia Revenue Authority, and other required documents as stipulated by the Ministry’s school accreditation process.
Until such procedures are completed, the Ministry reiterated that it will continue to recognize only the Evelyn S. Chapman United Methodist School under the United Methodist School System.
The Ministry concluded by urging Rev. Mondolo to comply immediately to safeguard both his institution’s integrity and the academic welfare of the students involved.
