A wave of grief has swept through Liberia following the sudden death of a young banker, Siah Bayoh, just days after she took part in a viral social media challenge.
The trend, which began in Ghana and recently gained traction in Liberia, made people to humorously stage how they would be buried based on their profession. The videos, often shared for entertainment, have been widely circulated across social media platforms.
Siah joined the trend by depicting what a banker’s burial might look like, a playful concept that quickly turned tragic when news broke of her unexpected passing only days later. Her death has left many Liberians in shock, turning what was once a lighthearted moment into a haunting reminder of life’s fragility.
According to a close source, she was suffering from an ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy in the fallopian tube). She reportedly felt weak after work at night, and her boyfriend took her to the hospital and she was later pronounced dead at JFK Memorial Hospital.
Social media has since been flooded with tributes and emotional messages from friends, colleagues, and even strangers who described Siah as a bright, ambitious, and kind-hearted young woman whose life ended far too soon.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
