The Government of Liberia, through the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC), has granted provisional licenses to nine imaging and laboratory specialists at Jahmale Medical Solutions in Paynesville as of September 18. These individuals had previously been disqualified for practicing without authorization, in accordance with subchapter E, section 61.19 of the Act establishing the LMDC.
The specialists include Samuel Lartey (Ghanaian radiographer), Stephen G. Apkozah (Ghanaian radiographer), Richard Asamoah (Ghanaian diagnostic medical sonographer), Adrian S. Jackson (Liberian radiographer), Jackson K. Mullah (Liberian radiographer), Abraham B. Merriam (Liberian radiographer), Lovetta W. Flomo (Liberian diagnostic medical sonographer), and Decontee Y. Farley-Korgboi (Liberian diagnostic medical sonographer).
The individuals were discovered earlier this month during a routine inspection of Jahmale Medical Solutions, prompting immediate action by the LMDC. Following discussions between Jahmale and health authorities, and their commitment to comply with legal standards, the LMDC lifted the ban and issued one-month provisional licenses to the affected specialists.
During this provisional period, they will undergo necessary screening, interviews, and testing to qualify for medical practice in Liberia. The LMDC has reiterated its warning against unauthorized medical practice, emphasizing that the government will enforce relevant laws to protect citizens and residents.
