Legendary Liberian musician Waste Dem has challenged fellow artist Mr. SMOOV, formerly known as Tan Tan B, to use his influence and resources to make a lasting impact on Liberia’s entertainment industry.
In a message directed at Mr. SMOOV, Waste Dem described him as a friend and brother, while making what he called his honest opinion as a Liberian musician.
Waste Dem said Mr. SMOOV’s long experience in the Liberian music industry, combined with his position as one of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s sons, gives him a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of the country’s entertainment sector.
According to Waste Dem, Mr. SMOOV could use his connections and resources to establish one of the biggest record labels in Africa, creating opportunities for both established and upcoming Liberian artists.
He stressed that Mr. SMOOV does not have to give up his own music career to support other artists, saying he can continue making music while also building a record label.
Waste Dem pointed to the large number of talented Liberian musicians who, in his view, lack the opportunities and platforms needed to advance their careers.
He also urged Mr. SMOOV to look beyond personal interests and use his opportunities to contribute to the growth of Liberia’s creative industry.
