Monrovia, Liberia – Legendary Liberian musician Picador, widely recognized as one of the pioneers of Liberia’s early Hipco movement, is once again at the center of public concern following a recent update shared by content creator SOK.
Picador, celebrated for classic songs including “Bosom,” “Chameleon,” “Major Headline,” “Dream Girl,” and “All Hail,” played a significant role in helping shape the Hipco sound during the genre’s formative years and remains a respected figure among many lovers of Liberian music.
Public concern surrounding the veteran artist is not entirely new. Back in 2022, several entertainment blogs reported that Picador had allegedly been evicted from his apartment along the Capitol Bypass after reportedly receiving multiple notices from his landlord over unpaid rent. The development sparked sympathy and concern across the entertainment community, but in the years that followed, little was publicly heard about the artist’s condition or whereabouts.
Now, a new update has brought his situation back into the spotlight.
According to SOK, efforts are currently underway to secure professional help for Picador after he was recently found in what was described as a mentally unstable state. SOK disclosed that with the assistance of veteran artist and longtime friend Noy Z, Picador was located and immediate steps are being taken to ensure he receives proper care.
SOK explained that he, alongside some of Picador’s longtime friends and the musician’s brother, is working closely to make arrangements with the JFK Mental Health Center so the Hipco pioneer can receive medical treatment and support.
He further noted that Picador currently does not have access to a phone. However, individuals wishing to reach out, support, or assist in any way have been encouraged to contact SOK directly through WhatsApp at 0886106061.
The update has already generated emotional reactions online, with many Liberians expressing concern and hoping the celebrated musician receives the care and support needed during this difficult period.
