The Anti-Robbery Unit of the Liberia National Police has arrested and formally charged two men accused of impersonating soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia and carrying out a violent robbery in Monrovia.
The suspects, identified as Shadrach Dingwall and Philip W. D. B. Randy, were apprehended on February 15, 2026, at Bandersville Junction. Police said the two men were wearing full military camouflage uniforms and falsely presenting themselves as active AFL personnel at the time of their arrest.
According to police reports, the suspects allegedly attacked a victim, Frank Roberts, pepper-spraying him before making away with his Bajaj motorbike. Further investigations revealed that the duo had been terrorizing residents in several communities, using their fake military appearance to intimidate civilians and carry out criminal acts.
Following investigations, the two accused have been charged with robbery, theft of property, impersonating an official, and criminal conspiracy. They have since been forwarded to court to face prosecution in keeping with Liberian law.
The Liberia National Police has reiterated its warning to the public to remain vigilant and report anyone suspected of impersonating security personnel, as authorities continue efforts to clamp down on crimes involving false representation of state security forces.
