Suspended Deputy Minister for Youth Development at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Bryant McGill, has spoken publicly for the first time since being accused of raping a 14-year-old girl. In a detailed social media post, McGill compared his ordeal to Biblical stories of individuals who were falsely accused but ultimately vindicated.
McGill, who has been under investigation for several weeks, said he has faced “humiliation and bullying” but remains confident that the truth will emerge. Quoting Biblical examples such as Joseph and Potiphar’s wife, Daniel in the lions’ den, Mordecai and Haman, and Jesus before Pilate, McGill reflected on what he described as the endurance of integrity amid false accusations.
“Integrity will always outlive false accusation,” he wrote, adding that “no scheme against the righteous can stand before God.” McGill stated that he continues to trust in God’s justice and the Liberian justice system, maintaining that his conscience is clear.
He also used the occasion to thank Liberians and international partners for their “prayers, patience, and fairness” during the ongoing investigation.
Concluding his message on a personal note, McGill celebrated his 24th wedding anniversary, expressing gratitude for his marriage amid what he called a “test of faith and character.”
Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police have confirmed that investigations into the allegation are still ongoing. Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman recently told the public that, so far, there is no evidence linking McGill to the alleged incident, though the case remains under review.
