The Monrovia City Court has officially canceled the October 14, 2025, writ of arrest that was previously issued against the Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) over a disputed piece of land in Congo Town.
According to court records, the decision came after the complainant voluntarily withdrew the case, leading to the dismissal of the legal action. The court’s latest move effectively clears the CDC Chairman of any immediate legal obligations related to the matter.
Earlier reports had suggested that the individual claiming ownership of the land was being represented by Cllr. Cyril Jones of the Jones & Jones Law Firm. However, Cllr. Jones has since publicly distanced himself from the case, clarifying that he never filed any complaint or represented any party before the Monrovia City Court regarding the dispute.
When reached for comment, Cllr. Jones reiterated, “I have no involvement whatsoever in this matter.”
The cancellation brings temporary relief to the CDC leadership, which had been entangled in the ongoing land controversy surrounding the party’s planned headquarters construction in Congo Town.
