The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) has dismissed one of its officers, Edward K. Dagoseh, after his arrest in Grand Cape Mount County on allegations of drug trafficking.
A statement from the LIS said Dagoseh was apprehended by joint security forces on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in the Tienii community around 10 a.m.
Preliminary reports indicate that he was caught with 48 boxes of the banned substance Tramadol, amounting to about 48,000 tablets. The drugs were reportedly discovered inside a petroleum tanker truck belonging to businessman George Kailondo.
LIS Commissioner General, Col. Elijah F. Rufus, ordered Dagoseh’s immediate disrobement and removal from duty, stressing the institution’s zero-tolerance stance against criminal activity. The officer has since been handed over to the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) for investigation.
The LIS Professional Standards Division also confirmed its cooperation with the LDEA and other security institutions to ensure a credible process.
“The Liberia Immigration Service will not protect any officer found undermining national security or public trust. Integrity and accountability remain central to our mandate,” the release noted.
The Service said further details will be released as the investigation unfolds.
