Monrovia – Former President George Manneh Weah has publicly addressed the recent fire that broke out at his 9th Street residence in Sinkor, describing it simply as “a fire in [his] bedroom.”
Weah made the remarks on Sunday while speaking at his church service. He noted that although he was not home when the incident occurred, he received a call informing him about the blaze. The former president stopped short of confirming whether the fire was accidental or deliberate, a point that has fueled debate following the CDC’s claims of a premeditated attack.
“The first time, people shot into our home and tried to set it on fire, but God delivered me. This time, it was just a fire in my bedroom. The whole house, fire in my bedroom. I wasn’t there, someone called to inform me. Believe in God,” Weah said.
His remarks come as investigations into the incident continue, with conflicting narratives emerging between the Liberia National Fire Service’s preliminary findings of an electrical shock and the CDC’s insistence on foul play.
