Residents of 4th Street have taken their anti-drug campaign to a new level, moving beyond words and into direct action. In a coordinated effort, the community tore down several locations believed to be used for drug activity and even detained a suspected dealer in the process.
Authorities say the operation has already led to 51 arrests, with all suspects handed over to the Liberia National Police (LNP) for questioning. Police confirmed the group is being held at LNP Headquarters, while additional arrests could follow as investigations continue.
The chairman of the community, speaking with journalists on-site, described the operation as a necessary stand against a growing threat. “Drug-related activities are putting our safety at risk. We cannot sit by and watch,” he said, promising that residents will keep up the pressure until their neighborhood is free from the grip of drugs.

He noted that the campaign is not a one-off event but part of an ongoing push to restore peace and security to 4th Street. The move reflects a wider trend of local communities in Liberia taking the fight against drugs into their own hands, working hand-in-hand with law enforcement to protect their homes.
