The National Election Commission (NEC) of Liberia has officially released the final list of qualified candidates for the upcoming Nimba County Senatorial by-election, marking a crucial step in the electoral process. However, the list has stirred controversy as one prominent aspirant, Justin Oldpa Yeazehn, widely known as Prophet Key, has been excluded due to his failure to meet electoral requirements.
Prophet Key, a popular spiritual leader and political newcomer, had garnered significant attention when he declared his intention to contest the senatorial seat. However, the NEC confirmed his disqualification after verifying that he was not a registered voter, a mandatory requirement for all candidates.

This decision has disappointed his supporters, many of whom believed his grassroots appeal could shake up the race. In previous statements, Prophet Key had expressed confidence in his eligibility, but the NEC’s final verdict has closed the door on his bid.
But with the disqualification now settled, the NEC has declared the campaign period open, running from March 31 to April 19, 2025. This gives the remaining qualified candidates just under three weeks to rally voters ahead of the by-election.
As the campaign continues, voters are watching closely to see which candidate can secure their trust. The NEC has urged all parties to adhere to electoral guidelines and maintain peace throughout the process.
