The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has successfully apprehended a suspect in possession of a substantial quantity of controlled substances. The arrest, which took place in Sanoyea District, was part of a strategic operation aimed at curbing the illegal drug trade within Bong County.

The suspect, identified as Moses P. Kollie, was arrested after LDEA agents conducted a thorough search at a checkpoint in Bong District #7. The operation, led by Deputy LDEA Special Agent Lewis N. Geelar, resulted in the seizure of 155.99 grams of high-class codeine and morphine drugs. These substances, known for their potent effects, have an estimated street value of $1,333,714.54 Liberian Dollars (approximately $7,019.55 USD).

The LDEA’s successful operation highlights the agency’s unwavering commitment to eradicating drug trafficking in Liberia. Agent Geelar emphasized that such operations are crucial in safeguarding communities from the dangers of illegal drugs. “Our mission is to protect the public from the harmful effects of these substances and to ensure that those involved in trafficking are brought to justice,” Geelar stated.

In a surprising twist, Kollie admitted to the crime during his interrogation. He claimed that the drugs were given to him by a friend he had known for just over two weeks. Kollie, who works as a miner, revealed that he was instructed by an unknown drug dealer to deliver a plastic bag containing the drugs to Monrovia. According to Kollie, he was unaware of the illicit contents of the bag.

Expressing deep remorse, Kollie pleaded with the LDEA for forgiveness. He acknowledged his involvement in the drug trade and expressed regret over his actions. However, the LDEA remains resolute in its stance against drug trafficking and has forwarded the case to the court, where Kollie’s fate will be determined.

This arrest is part of the LDEA’s broader efforts to combat drug trafficking in Liberia. The agency has been intensifying its operations across the country, particularly in regions like Bong County, where drug trafficking has become increasingly prevalent.

As the case moves to court, the LDEA’s message is clear: those who engage in drug trafficking will be held accountable. The agency’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the drug trade are vital in ensuring the safety and well-being of Liberia’s communities. The LDEA’s vigilance and dedication serve as a reminder that the fight against drug trafficking is far from over, and the agency will continue to take decisive action to protect the public from the dangers of illegal drugs.
