If you’ve been paying attention to Liberia’s entertainment scene lately, the name Anthony M. Fofana is probably ringing through your news feed. From starring in the nation’s most trending movie, The Good Husband, to being heralded as the Godfather of Blogging in Liberia, Fofana is no ordinary actor—he’s a force.
But how did he get here? For many, Anthony M. Fofana’s fame may seem like an overnight sensation, but this talented actor has been mastering his craft for decades. His acting journey began in Nigeria during his high school years, back in 2003. After returning to Liberia in 2005, he took on a role in Choices, Liberia’s first episode/series, portraying a character named Stagron (Stag), a campus troublemaker who captured the nation’s imagination. Unfortunately, the series was cut short after the tragic loss of a major cast member, leaving fans craving more.
Yet, that was far from the end of Fofana’s contributions to Liberian cinema. Behind the scenes, he played a significant role in developing other actors like Wendigar and John Flomo, working tirelessly to elevate Liberia’s entertainment industry. Even without frequent on-screen appearances, Fofana’s impact has been profound.
But acting is just one facet of Anthony M. Fofana. He is a trailblazer in Liberia’s media landscape, becoming the country’s first official blogger. With that, he earned the nickname “Rich Guy” and “THATDAY,” solidifying his reputation as a pioneer. He now serves as the chairman of the Blogger Association of Liberia, ensuring that Liberian voices resonate louder in the digital world.
In 2023, Anthony once again captured the world’s attention with his viral video, Money Tree, filmed during his return trip to Liberia from the United States. The video humorously critiqued the misconception that people in the diaspora are financially flourishing, as if they’re plucking money from trees—a creative spin that resonated globally, especially with Liberians.
And then there’s The Good Husband—his most recent triumph on the big screen. Anthony plays Nelson, a role that has drawn comparisons to Nigerian actor Tony Umez. Paired alongside Ertamar Thompson as Kemah, the duo’s performance ignited discussions online, with fans praising their chemistry and the film’s insightful portrayal of family life behind closed doors.
Beyond the spotlight, Fofana is a dedicated activist, humanitarian, and philanthropist. His influence extends far beyond entertainment, inspiring Liberia’s youth to pursue blogging and content creation. Single and focused on his craft, Fofana remains a role model, shaping a generation while continuously proving that he’s more than just an actor—he’s a catalyst for change in Liberian society.
Wherever you hear his name, expect something extraordinary.
