World leaders on Friday, June 11, arrived in the United Kingdom for a three-day G7 summit where they are expected to discuss global pandemic recovery, including a commitment to share 1 billion vaccine doses with poorer countries.
This is the first official foreign trip by Joe Biden since assuming presidency in January 2021.
It\’s also his first face to face meeting with world leaders.
The Group of 7 also known as G7 is made up of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US. Represented jointly by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission, the EU participates in all discussions as a guest.
The UK has also invited leaders from Australia, India, South Africa, and South Korea to attend the Leaders\’ Summit as guest countries.
Queen Elizabeth II will also hold a dinner for the world leaders.
The US held the G7 Presidency in 2020 but did not convene a Leaders\’ Summit due to the global pandemic. The 2019 G7 Leaders\’ Summit took place in France in August 2019.
