A Liberian website known for advocating for the rights of LGBTs in Liberia broke news of an alleged attack on Michael Kanneh, a former student of the Trinity United Methodists School who went viral in a video arguing with an old woman who was condemning his act of being gay.
It has been reported that Nuchie Michael as he is commonly known as was severely brutalized by family members, (the site gathered.)
Kanneh who is said to be 19yrs old was a student of the Trinity United Methodist High School who was later expelled online by his school’s principal when he appeared in a viral video which showed him wearing makeup and wig while acting like a lady.
He later got involved into a fiery exchange of words with a female passerby who unsuccessfully tried to shamed him by condemning him.
The incident of his brutalizations, according to eyewitnesses, occurred during the evening hours of yesterday, June 4, when family members reportedly made their way to the residence of a friend of Kanneh to beat on him for disgracing their family name as they said.
Kanneh, who ran to seek refuge at a friend’s place following the wide spread of the news on social media was however dug out from his hideout by his parents who allegedly brutalized him as he sustained several major injuries.
According to an eyewitness who was on the scene Kanneh’s father reportedly promised to murder the young man during the late hours of last night . Which was not verified by the Gay Advocate Website, “journalRAGE.”
Up till now, his whereabout still remains unknown as some human rights organizations as well as Gay Rights Advocate leagues are working in line with law enforcement officers and the Liberia National Police to bring the perpetrators to book as well as the victim Michael Kanneh to safety.
