Dr. Clarence Moniba is calling on President Boakai to recall the US$1.2 billion draft national budget and immediately raise civil servants’ minimum take-home pay to US$500. He says Liberia can achieve this by reducing the government from 104 institutions to no more than 50, saving nearly US$400 million that can directly improve salaries, schools, hospitals, and community security.

Businessman and DStv Liberia owner Simeon Freeman says “nothing has changed” under the Boakai administration despite over US$1.5 billion spent in two years, citing failures in education, health, jobs, and governance. His remarks have sparked debate, with some questioning whether he’s any different, given DStv Liberia’s own exploitative practices.

President Joseph N. Boakai has declared Wednesday, October 29, 2025, as National Youth Day, a working holiday to be observed nationwide. The celebration, themed “Recognizing the Gains; Building Resilience for Liberia’s Future,” will take place in Buchanan City, bringing together youth from all 15 counties to celebrate unity, innovation, and national service.
