The world is mourning the loss of iconic martial artist and Hollywood action star Chuck Norris, who has passed away at the age of 86.
According to a statement released by his family, Norris died peacefully on Thursday morning in Hawaii, surrounded by loved ones. While the exact circumstances of his passing were not disclosed, the family described his final moments as calm and filled with the presence of those closest to him.
“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris,” the statement read. “He lived life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved.”
Reports indicate that his death came as a shock. Just a day prior, Norris was said to be active and in good spirits, even maintaining his regular fitness routine, something that had long been part of his public image.
Norris rose to global fame through a string of action-packed films in the 1980s, including The Delta Force and Missing in Action. He later became a household name on television with his role as Cordell Walker in the hit series Walker, Texas Ranger, which aired throughout the 1990s.
Though he gradually stepped away from leading roles in Hollywood, Norris remained a recognizable figure, making occasional appearances such as in The Expendables 2. Beyond acting, he was widely respected in the martial arts community, holding black belts in multiple disciplines and earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1989. In 2010, he was also honored as an honorary Texas Ranger.
His legacy extended beyond film and martial arts. Norris shared a well-documented friendship with martial arts legend Bruce Lee, with whom he trained and co-starred in the classic 1972 film The Way of the Dragon.
In his later years, Norris maintained a strong presence online, where he became the subject of countless viral memes celebrating his toughness and larger-than-life persona. Even on his 86th birthday earlier this month, he posted a video playfully showcasing his enduring strength, declaring, “I don’t age… I level up.”
Born in Oklahoma in 1940, Norris served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962 before embarking on his martial arts and acting journey. Over the course of his life, he married twice and was a father to five children, including actor Mike Norris and NASCAR driver Eric Norris.
His passing comes after a period marked by personal loss, including the deaths of his mother in 2024 and his first wife, Dianne Holechek, late last year.
Chuck Norris leaves behind a legacy defined by discipline, resilience, and cultural impact—one that will continue to resonate with fans across generations.
