Monrovia — The Liberia National Police (LNP) has formally charged and forwarded to court Mulbah K. Morlu, Chairman of the pressure group STAND, and Rev. Festus R. B. Logan, the organization’s Deputy Chairman, after concluding investigations into violence linked to the December 17, 2025 protest in Monrovia.
According to the police, the charges stem from unrest that erupted during and after the protest, which reportedly escalated into clashes, property damage, and criminal activity in parts of the capital.
Morlu and Logan are facing multiple criminal counts, including criminal solicitation, criminal conspiracy, rioting, failure to disperse, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of highways and public passages. The LNP said these alleged actions contributed to a series of offenses, including simple assault, criminal mischief, robbery, and theft of property.
Police authorities stated that the charges are brought under Chapter 10, Sections 10.3 and 10.4, and Chapter 17, Sections 17.3 and 17.7 of Liberia’s Revised Penal Law.
The LNP maintained that the decision to forward the two STAND leaders to court followed a comprehensive investigation into the events surrounding the protest, emphasizing that the matter will now be determined by the judiciary.
The December 17 protest, which drew significant public attention, was initially organized to express grievances, but later turned violent, prompting a heavy police response and subsequent investigations into those believed to have played key roles in the unrest.
