Former Vice President of Liberia, Jewel Howard-Taylor, has issued a heartfelt message of gratitude in response to the overwhelming support shown to her and her family following the death of her son, Charles Neilson Phillip Taylor.
In her message, Madam Howard-Taylor described waking up with deep emotion, still struggling to come to terms with the loss of her son, who passed away just over a week ago at the age of 42. She noted that while the pain remains heavy, her family is choosing to give thanks to God for the 42 years they were blessed to share with him.
The former Vice President extended sincere appreciation to former President George Manneh Weah and officials of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) for visiting her shortly after learning of her son’s passing. She also thanked President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Vice President Jeremiah Koung and his wife, former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and members of all three branches of government for their continued words of comfort and solidarity.
Madam Howard-Taylor further acknowledged the prayers and visits from church leaders, musicians, classmates, organizations, and citizens from across the country, noting that their presence has provided strength and comfort during this period of profound grief.
She concluded by expressing her sincere thanks to all who have stood with her family and announced that details regarding the interment of her late son will be communicated in the coming days.
