DMG Music Clarifies Partnership With Fluxii Amid Contract Dispute
DMG Music has issued a public clarification regarding its professional relationship with Liberian artist Fluxii, stating that she was never signed as an artist under the label, but rather entered into a partnership agreement with the company.
According to DMG Music, the agreement was signed on November 5, 2023, and was structured as a collaborative partnership in which Fluxii provided the talent while the label contributed resources aimed at building and growing her brand. The label emphasized that the arrangement was not a traditional recording contract, but a joint effort based on mutual contribution.
The company explained that tensions began after Fluxii allegedly requested the label to carry out actions that were outside the scope of the partnership agreement, a request DMG Music says it declined. The label claims this refusal led to a breakdown in the working relationship. While addressing public speculation, DMG Music also stated that it is unable to make the contract public, citing contractual and legal constraints.
Speaking further on the matter, the Chief Executive Officer of DMG Music addressed the issue surrounding Fluxii’s social media platforms. According to the CEO, the artist’s official page was taken down after she ended the partnership prematurely, adding that under the terms of the agreement, the label could not allow her to exit the partnership with the page at that time.
Despite the dispute, DMG Music says it remains open to reconciliation. The CEO stated that the label is willing to hand over Fluxii’s social media pages and expressed readiness to work with her again, should she choose to do so. He added that the intention is for Fluxii to move forward and stand strong as an independent artist.
The clarification comes months after Fluxii went through what many described as a heartbreaking period, during which the music industry and fans rallied around her, offering support and helping her rebuild and grow a new social media page.
As the situation continues to unfold, stakeholders within Liberia’s music industry are closely watching how the dispute will be resolved, with growing calls for transparency, fairness, and clearer frameworks governing artist–label partnerships.
