Liberia’s national response to Mpox has received a significant boost following the arrival of 42,720 doses of Mpox vaccine donated by the United States Government.
Health authorities say the consignment marks a major step forward in strengthening prevention efforts, especially as the country works to curb human-to-human transmission. The vaccines will be deployed nationwide, with priority given to individuals at higher risk of exposure, including frontline health workers who remain the most vulnerable in the fight against the virus.
According to the Ministry of Health, the support from the U.S. underscores a continued partnership aimed at safeguarding public health and improving Liberia’s capacity to respond to infectious disease threats.
Government officials extended gratitude to the United States Government and the American people for what they described as a demonstration of strong collaboration and commitment to protecting lives.
Distribution of the vaccines is expected to begin shortly as part of the country’s broader Mpox preparedness and response strategy.
