President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has moved swiftly to address concerns at the National Commission on Disabilities (NCD), placing two top officials on temporary suspension and ordering an in-depth audit based on the findings of a Special Investigative Committee.
In a statement issued Tuesday by the Executive Mansion, the President announced the suspension of the NCD’s Executive Director, Samuel Dean, and Deputy Executive Director, Winifred Paye. The suspensions will remain in effect while an audit is conducted into allegations of mismanagement within the Commission.
To maintain continuity in the institution’s operations, President Boakai has designated Apostle J. Aaron Wright, Sr. as Acting Executive Director and Emary Amos Jessie as Acting Deputy Executive Director.
Additionally, the General Auditing Commission (GAC) has been instructed to carry out a comprehensive audit of the NCD to verify the allegations and determine accountability where necessary.
The Executive Mansion emphasized that the measures reflect the administration’s firm stance on transparency and accountability, while upholding due process and the rule of law.
