Monrovia — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has appointed social media influencer Mariama Tuzee Toure, popularly known as Mandingo Tuzee, as a member of Liberia’s National Youth Advisory Council, following the resignation of Ms. Alphia Faith Kemokai.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced on December 30, 2025, after President Boakai accepted Ms. Kemokai’s resignation, tendered on personal grounds. In accepting her decision, the President acknowledged her service and contributions to youth engagement and policy dialogue during her tenure on the Council.
Ms. Toure is widely known for her strong online presence and influence among young Liberians, where she has built a following through commentary on youth issues, social development, and civic awareness. Her elevation to the National Youth Advisory Council places a prominent digital voice within a formal government structure tasked with advising the President on youth-related matters.
According to the Executive Mansion, Ms. Toure’s appointment aligns with the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and broader youth representation, particularly by incorporating voices that resonate with young people across both urban and rural communities.
President Boakai has called on youth organizations, development partners, and stakeholders to support Ms. Toure as she assumes her new role, emphasizing the importance of sustained youth participation in national decision-making processes. He also extended best wishes to Ms. Kemokai in her future endeavors.
The change in the Council’s composition underscores the government’s continued focus on ensuring that youth perspectives, especially those emerging from new media and digital platforms, are represented in shaping Liberia’s development agenda.
