The Ministry of Information (MOI) has taken delivery of newly procured staff buses, ending more than ten years during which employees operated without any dedicated transportation support.
Information Minister Hon. Jerolinmek M. Piah confirmed the development during the Ministry’s regular press briefing, describing the arrival of the vehicles as a long-overdue boost to staff welfare. According to him, the buses were fully funded by the Government of Liberia and have already been brought into the country.
Minister Piah clarified that the prolonged delivery timeline resulted from vendor-related issues, not from governmental delays or administrative decisions. He said the vehicles are now in Monrovia and that preparations are underway for the official handover.
The move is expected to ease the long-standing transportation challenges faced by MOI employees and demonstrates the government’s continued commitment to improving working conditions across the institution.
Meanwhile, the briefing also featured a moment of transition within the Ministry. Former Assistant Minister for Tourism, Atty. Dogba K. Norris, Jr., formally bid farewell to MOI following his recent appointment as Deputy Director General of the National Tourism Authority.
Atty. Norris expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve at the Ministry, describing his tenure as meaningful, rewarding, and marked by collaboration. He lauded Minister Piah for fostering a supportive and productive working environment during his years of service.
