ZORZOR, LOFA COUNTY – The tense standoff in Kailemai Town has taken a surprising turn as the two pastors previously held by traditionalists have been found alive, according to sources familiar with the situation.
The pastors, who were abducted on November 14, reportedly escaped captivity under unusual circumstances. Pastor James Koboi, head of the Liberia Council of Churches in Lofa, said the men told him their chains were mysteriously unlocked in the middle of the night by an unidentified individual while their captors slept.
Following their release, the pastors spent two days navigating the surrounding bush to avoid being recaptured. They eventually reached Zorzor District, where they informed the Liberia National Police of their escape and safe return.
Pastor Koboi confirmed that both men have now reunited with their families, bringing relief to a community that had been on edge for days.
This story continues to develop as authorities investigate the circumstances of their detention and escape.
