The Ministry of Education has imposed a fine of LRD 500,000 on the Firestone Liberia School System for breaching national graduation regulations by allowing ineligible students to participate in its recent ceremony.
According to the Ministry, while collaboration with schools is vital to achieving quality education, no institution, whether public or private, is exempt from adhering to national standards. The regulations, the Ministry emphasized, are designed to safeguard fairness, credibility, and the future of students across Liberia.
The action forms part of a broader reform drive aimed at strengthening accountability and improving learning outcomes. Authorities urged parents, school administrators, County and District Education Officers, and the wider public to play an active role in maintaining educational integrity.
The Ministry also encouraged the public to report any suspected violations through local education offices or by calling the national hotline (1416).
“Standards must be upheld to ensure students are prepared for genuine success, not ceremonial shortcuts,” the Ministry stated.
