Some aggrieved workers at the ELWA Hospital have threatened to stop working on Monday if their old complaints are not settled.
According to them, the hospital still owes staff back pay from as far back as 2016. They say management has been paying them below the government’s set minimum wage and has refused to fix the problem after many promises.
The workers also say management has refused to sign a workers’ agreement that was sent to them more than a year ago.
Another major concern is about money that was reportedly donated by a U.S.-based group to buy an ambulance. The workers claim that the money was used for something else and no one has explained where it went.
They further allege that the hospital has been cutting social security money (NASSCORP) from their salaries but has not been sending it to the agency.
The workers say if nothing is done before Monday, they will go on strike until their demands are met.
