Liberian artist S.I.O is once again the hot topic online after a clash of words with rapper MC Caro spiraled into a full-blown dragging contest. Videos of both stars are trending across social media, and fans are divided on who’s right and who’s wrong.
It all kicked off when MC Caro dropped a video, throwing shade at what she called the “sad artists” who are still pushing sorrowful music. She added:
“We all agreed to put the sorrowful songs aside. If you haven’t eaten since Joseph Jenkins Roberts’ time, I’m really sorry, we don’t want to hear it.”
Almost instantly, blogs and gossip pages linked the jab to S.I.O, especially since his emotional hit with the famous line “Papay oh” has been dominating airwaves and timelines. The clip spread like wildfire, with trolls and critics zeroing in on S.I.O, while loyal fans rose to defend him.
But the drama didn’t end there. S.I.O later while making an appearance on a local radio station with his crew, where he crossed paths with fellow artist 10:30, responded to the shade by pointing out that the very sorrowful songs MC Caro mocked had earned him a Wrangler Jeep worth US $35,000.
Then came the line that set social media on fire: S.I.O suggested that instead of shading him, MC Caro should “focus on her weight and hit the gym.” He never mentioned her name directly, but the implication was clear, and with MC Caro being known for her thick figure, the internet quickly accused him of body shaming.
Now the online dragging is hotter than ever. While some argue S.I.O was only defending himself, others believe he may have opened a battle he can’t easily walk away from.
But Geezmates, what do you think?
