The Liberia National Police (LNP) has seized a large quantity of compressed marijuana during a late-night operation in Jacob’s Town, but no suspects have been arrested.
The operation took place around 9:00 PM on Monday near the James Davies Bloc, where officers intercepted 100,800 compressed marijuana units, with an estimated street value of US$9,576. Each unit was said to be worth US$76.
According to Deputy Director for Administration, Ernest Tarpeh, the suspects abandoned the drugs and managed to flee before police officers reached the scene. He confirmed that while no arrests have been made, intelligence operations are ongoing to track those involved.
Upon receiving the confiscated substances, LDEA Officer-in-Charge Fitzgerald Biagon commended the collaboration between the two security agencies. He stressed that the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency’s mandate is not limited to arrests but also to disrupting the networks that enable drug trafficking across the country.
Authorities have assured the public that investigations are continuing and the culprits will be brought to justice.
