The Liberia national football team, Lone Star, has assembled in Tunis, Tunisia, ahead of Thursday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. But the team’s full complement of players is not present, as two home-based stars failed to make the trip.
Jah Nyanforh of Blackman Warriors and Daniel Toe of LISCR FC were unable to travel with the delegation after facing passport problems. Their absence trims down the local representation in a squad already heavily reliant on foreign-based professionals.
Caretaker coach Thomas Kojo had initially called up a 25-man team for the doubleheader against Tunisia and Malawi. The group departed Monrovia on Sunday, with overseas arrivals expected to join later.
By Tuesday, the squad had been completed following the arrival of Edward Ledlum, who plays for ASO Chlef in Algeria’s top league. Earlier that same day, team captain Oscar Murphy Dorley and his Slavia Prague teammate Devine Teah also joined camp, ensuring a nearly full-strength squad despite the setbacks.
Observers say the camp remains calm and focused despite reports that players have yet to receive their per diem payments.
