Grace Hawa Weah, President of Determine Girls Football Club, has strongly rejected her suspension from all football activities by the Liberia Football Association (LFA), describing the move as “unlawful, unjust, and a violation of the LFA Statutes.”
In a press statement, Weah argued that the suspension, communicated by the LFA Secretariat on September 18, 2025, was issued under provisions that do not apply to her as an individual official. She maintained that Article 18.3(A) of the LFA Statutes governs clubs and associations as legal entities, not natural persons serving in administrative or leadership roles.
“Determine Girls FC is the member of the LFA, not me personally,” Weah emphasized. “The Statutes clearly separate clubs as members from officials as administrators. To suspend me under a rule meant for clubs has no legal basis.”
Weah further accused the LFA Secretariat of exceeding its authority by imposing sanctions before the Ethics Committee had even begun its review. According to her, the Secretariat’s role is purely administrative, while disciplinary matters fall under the jurisdiction of the Ethics, Disciplinary, and Appeals Committees.
“By acting as both complainant and judge, the Secretariat has undermined fairness, impartiality, and natural justice,” she said.
Despite her rejection of the suspension, Weah pledged full cooperation with the Ethics Committee investigation but warned against what she described as an attempt to damage her reputation and leadership through “irregular and unlawful actions.”
“I have been wrongly targeted, and this decision cannot stand. I call on the LFA to immediately withdraw the suspension and allow due process to prevail. Football in Liberia can only progress when the rules are applied fairly and consistently,” she concluded.
