The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has been forced out of its long-time headquarters in Buchanan after the building owner handed the property over to a new tenant, leaving the party without a base in Grand Bassa. The latest blow comes just weeks after the party was evicted from its national headquarters in Congo Town, Monrovia.
For years, the facility served as CDC’s main operations center in the county. But the property has now been turned over to Commerce Minister Magdalene Dagoseh, whose foundation has already moved in, effectively displacing the party.
Insiders say CDC officials tried to extend their lease through negotiations with the landlord, Mr. Sylvester Taylor, but he reportedly declined their request. That decision cleared the way for Minister Dagoseh’s organization to occupy the space.
The eviction has sparked conversations about CDC’s influence in the county. Once considered a dominant force, the party now finds itself without an office, raising questions about its strength and organizational presence in Grand Bassa.
Local leaders of the CDC have yet to comment publicly, leaving both supporters and political observers wondering if the party will secure a new headquarters soon, or if this setback signals deeper cracks within its county structure.
