A few days after reports surfaced that she had been suspended for allegedly insulting her boss, Karishma Pelham-Raad has stepped down from her role at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Executive Mansion on Sunday confirmed her resignation through an official statement.
“President Joseph N. Boakai has, with immediate effect, accepted the resignation of Madam Karishma Pelham-Raad from her position as Assistant Minister for International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” the release stated.
Madam Pelham-Raad, who had held the position since the start of the Unity Party-led administration, expressed appreciation for the chance to serve in government. In her farewell message, she extended gratitude for the opportunity and time afforded her during her tenure.
Her resignation comes on the heels of a wave of public interest after reports emerged that she had been suspended for allegedly insulting her superior. While the details surrounding the reported incident remain unclear, her exit adds another layer to the ongoing debates about discipline and accountability within government institutions.
With her departure, attention now turns to how the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will move forward and who might step in to replace her in the sensitive post she once held.
