The Liberia National Police (LNP) has announced that it will carry out the eviction of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) from its headquarters this Saturday, August 23, 2025, following a writ of possession issued by the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court.
In a statement released Thursday, the police emphasized their neutrality in the matter, stressing that their role is strictly constitutional, to uphold the rule of law, preserve peace, and ensure the lawful decision of the court is executed without bias.
“The Liberia National Police reaffirms its neutrality and commitment to upholding the rule of law,” the statement read. “As a professional institution, our responsibility is to preserve peace, protect lives, and ensure that the decisions of our courts are carried out without fear or favor.”
The LNP urged the CDC, one of the country’s leading political parties, to demonstrate statesmanship by respecting the authority of the court. According to the release, compliance with the writ should be seen not as a defeat but as a sign of leadership and a commitment to Liberia’s democratic journey.
The police further appealed to CDC partisans and supporters to remain calm and law-abiding during the eviction process. “Liberia has come too far to allow political disagreements to undermine the hard-won peace we all share,” the statement noted.

In closing, the LNP reminded citizens that peace and stability are the responsibility of all Liberians. “Upholding the rule of law honors the sacrifices of the past and secures the future for generations to come.”
The writ of possession, issued by the court, mandates the LNP to ensure that the eviction is executed peacefully on Saturday.
