Criminal Court ‘C’ Judge Joe Barkon has sentenced Peach Bility, the son of Nimba County District #7 Representative Musa Bility, to four years in prison for drug-related offenses and illegal possession of firearms.
Bility’s sentencing comes after he voluntarily admitted guilt to charges involving the unlicensed possession and sale of controlled substances, as well as the unlawful possession of firearms. The offenses were committed at the Miami Beach Coconut Plantation in the Mamba Point area of Monrovia.
Under Liberian law, convictions for drug-related crimes carry a minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum of 20. However, Judge Barkon handed down a reduced sentence of four years, citing Bility’s willingness to cooperate with the investigation, his plea for mercy, and his voluntary guilty plea as mitigating factors.
The case drew significant public attention due to Bility’s political family background and the growing concern over the rise of illicit drug use and trafficking in Liberia. Judge Barkon noted that while the court must uphold the law, it also recognizes the importance of rehabilitation, especially for first-time offenders who accept responsibility for their actions.
The Ministry of Justice is expected to drop remaining charges in the original indictment as part of the plea agreement.

Bility now begins serving his prison term, with no word yet on any plans for appeal or parole consideration.
