President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has suspended the Director-General and Deputy Director for Administration and Finance of the Liberia Agricultural Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA) over allegations of financial and administrative misconduct.
In official letters dated June 25, 2025, the Liberian Chief Executive took decisive action against Mr. Christopher D. Sankolo, Director-General of LACRA, and Mr. Chea B. Garley, Deputy Director-General for Administration and Finance, ordering their immediate suspension pending the outcome of formal investigations.
The suspensions follow reports of “serious allegations” of mismanagement at the institution. The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has launched a probe into the matter, alongside an audit commissioned by the President to be carried out by the General Auditing Commission (GAC).
“These actions are being taken in the interest of transparency, accountability, and good governance,” President Boakai emphasized in both suspension letters.
The President also instructed the two officials to immediately turn over all institutional properties and responsibilities to newly appointed interim leaders.
In the wake of the suspensions, Hon. Dan Torkamawon Saryee, Sr. has been designated as Interim Director-General of LACRA, while Hon. Adolphus Forkpa will now serve as Interim Deputy Director-General for Administration and Finance.
President Boakai used the moment to reiterate his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, pledging that all public officials will be held to the highest standards of integrity and accountability.
This marks one of the most high-profile suspensions under the Boakai administration since he took office, reinforcing his commitment to restoring public trust and strengthening institutional credibility.
